Prof. Proksch studied Biology at the University of Cologne (Germany) and received his Ph D in 1980. After working as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of California, Irvine (USA) for two years, he moved back to Germany where he held different positions at the Universities of Cologne, Braunschweig and Wuerzburg. Since 1999 he is a full Professor and director of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Düsseldorf (Germany). His research interests are in bioactive compounds from marine organisms and from fungal endophytes. He has published over 400 papers and has supervised over 70 PhD candidates.
