Ashley is presently the Managing Director of Biofouling Solutions (BFS) Pty Ltd. based in Hobart, Tasmania who specialise in the cost-effective management of biofouling and Invasive Aquatic Species (AIS). Ashley manages a team of highly skilled marine scientists who specialise in risk assessments, vessel biofouling and IAS inspections, development of biofouling management plans, research and development into novel Invasive Marine Species and biofouling cleaning/treatment technologies. Previously, Ashley has worked for the Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s (DAFF), the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) as a Marine Pest Advisor and Cawthron Institute, New Zealand as a Marine Biosecurity Research Scientist. Ashley’s broad knowledge and experience as a research scientist, government regulator, policy developer/analyst and independent consultant means that he is well placed to assist regulators, researchers and industry develop pragmatic management solutions on biofouling and AIS related issues.
